Application Instructions for Forge Wheel Acid Cleaner

Forge is a powerful, acid-based cleaner. Extreme caution and strict adherence to safety protocols are paramount during application. This product is intended for professional use or by experienced individuals.

Safety Precautions (CRITICAL):

• ALWAYS WEAR APPROPRIATE PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE):
  • Chemical-Resistant Gloves: Nitrile gloves are essential.
  • Eye Protection: Chemical splash goggles or a face shield are mandatory.
  • Respiratory Protection: A respirator or mask is highly recommended in poorly ventilated areas.
  • Protective Clothing: Wear long sleeves and pants to protect skin.
• ALWAYS TEST IN AN INCONSPICUOUS AREA FIRST: Before widespread use, always test Forge on a small, hidden section of the wheel to ensure compatibility with your specific wheel finish. DO NOT USE ON POLISHED ALUMINUM, ANODIZED, CHROME (unless specifically tested and verified safe), or UNCOATED/RAW FINISHES without explicit manufacturer approval for your wheel type, as etching or damage may occur.
• DO NOT LET DRY: Never allow Forge to dry on the surface. This can cause etching or permanent damage.
• WORK ON COOL SURFACES ONLY: Apply to wheels that are cool to the touch and out of direct sunlight. High temperatures will accelerate drying and increase the risk of damage.
• WORK IN A WELL-VENTILATED AREA: Use outdoors or in an area with excellent airflow.

Application Method (Wheel-by-Wheel Process):

1. Preparation:
   • Rinse Wheels Thoroughly: Before applying Forge, thoroughly rinse one wheel at a time with strong water pressure to remove loose dirt, debris, and to cool down the surface. Ensure the wheel is adequately wet.
   • Prepare Area: Have your water source (hose with good pressure), dedicated wheel brushes, and clean rinse water ready.
2. Apply Forge:
   • Sprayer: Mist Forge evenly over one wet wheel face, barrel, and tire sidewall. A consistent, light spray is usually sufficient. Avoid overspraying onto painted body panels.
3. Allow to Dwell (Very Briefly):
   • Allow the product to dwell for 15-60 seconds. The exact dwell time will depend on the severity of contamination and ambient temperature. Do not exceed 1 minute on any surface. 
4. Agitate (Optional but Recommended):
   • For optimal results, especially on heavily soiled areas, gently agitate the product with a dedicated, acid-resistant wheel brush (soft bristles for wheel faces, stiffer for barrels) and a tire brush. Work quickly and efficiently.
5. Rinse Thoroughly (CRITICAL):
   • Immediately after the brief dwell time or agitation, rinse the wheel thoroughly with a strong stream of water. Ensure all product and loosened contaminants are completely flushed from every crevice, lug nut hole, and inside the barrel. Spend ample time rinsing.
6. Inspect & Repeat (If Necessary):
   • After rinsing, inspect the wheel for any remaining brake dust or stains. If necessary, a second, lighter application with agitation and immediate rinsing can be performed, but only if the wheel surface is still cool.
7. Move to Next Wheel: Proceed to the next wheel and repeat the entire process (rinse, apply, dwell, agitate, rinse).
8. Final Rinse: Once all wheels are cleaned, give the entire vehicle (especially lower panels near wheels) a final thorough rinse with water to ensure no accidental overspray remains.

Tips for Best Results:

• Work Fast: Due to its aggressive nature, work quickly and efficiently on one wheel at a time.
• Dedicated Tools: Use separate brushes and towels for wheels and tires to prevent cross-contamination to paint.
• Regular Maintenance: Using a milder, high-pH wheel cleaner (like Switch or Reset) for regular maintenance washes will reduce the need for acid-based cleaners like Forge.
• Always Dry Wheels: After cleaning, dry wheels thoroughly to prevent water spots and prepare for any dressing or sealant.
